Old Vs. New
Here are two videos Yuval sent me featuring a katana and some firearms. Oh, and an old Japanese man with a mustache.
In the first video the sword is shot at with a regular hand gun. It holds up nicely.
Clearly displeased by the sword's high performance, the Americans shoot it again, this time with a machine gun. It manages six bullets before snapping (up there in the picture is that 7th deadly bullet).
I love that the Japanese master, true to his old culture, showed up in his ninja robes.

This just to show the importance of carrying katanas everywhere you go.. You never know when someone might decide to have a go at you.
(Also you might want to consider getting a ninja outfit to avoid the unnecessary questions, not to mention the added style factor..)
