Apologies and A Song

First I'd like to apologize for my lack of activity here lately. I'm a student, for those who don't know, and these are trying times at our habitat.
In a month or so I should be back to my usual time-wasting-hedonistic ways.

For now - here's a lovely song by Bert Jansch to get you through the afternoon.

The Garden

Yuval has uploaded the new Zero 7. It's light and enjoyable - perfect for a warm summer day. Damn it's hot out there...
Anyway, 4.5 stars on Allmusic. Good stuff.

Poor pooch. Oddly enough, they were going at it missionary style.

Brando

If you have any affinity to video editing this will interest you - how they 'made' Brando for the new Superman movie.

That Old Pair of Jeans

This is a music video competition entry. Or something. Doesn't really matter - this guy is hypnotic.

Evil Japanese Show

They do practical joke on unsuspecting people. Pretty extreme pranks. And hilarious.

Peace

מה אתה היית מוכן לעשות עבור שלום במזרח התיכון?

עלי להיות כנה, ולומר שאנו חבטנו בסוגייה זו כבר לפני שנים בשמירות רבות בצבא.

Akbank Commercial

Why can't we ever produce something so visually attractive on our Yom Azmaut?

Rube Goldberg Contest

Yep. There are contests now. Those Japanese sure get worked up over their Goldberg devices - I got almost as excited as the announcer.
The picture doesn't do it justice, but you're watching the magic that is ramen in the making.

Mistress of Spices

Another movie alert. Do not watch this movie.

There isn't very much to be said about this film, so I will keep it short. The script is simply laughable. People will say: "you have to understand the magic of it...". They're wrong. There's no magic. Only excruciatingly poor story and character development.
To top that off numerous smaller characters are introduced to the story without actually contributing anything to it, and the chemistry between the two leading roles is simply non-existent.

For those of you thinking: "I hear you buddy, but I think I'll take my girl/boyfriend to it. They love those romantic love stories." To you I say this: I watched this movie with a date and another couple. We all left the cinema with bruises on our foreheads from smacking it with despair throughout the movie.

This movie is a waste of your time. The only lifting bit of it is Aishwarya Rai who's absolutely gorgeous.

Just thought I'd add - I watch good films too. I just don't get such a strong urge to go blab about them... wonder why that is.

The Lyrebird - It will blow you away!

4 DJs

Four French guys (4 DJs) won the DMC world championship. It's pretty sweet, if you're into that sort of thing.
Check out the rest of the aurgasm site. It has some other interesting videos.

The Proposition

I read some reviews saying this movie is "on the sluggish side", and "only for Nick Cave enthusiasts". I just watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I don't really have much to say beyond that - the actors were great, camera work was beautiful, and the music captivating.
Has some rough violence in it (Yuval), but most people in the theater seemed to cope fine. Those who didn't left. So that works out all right.

What's It Gonna Be?

I have no idea who Mike O'connell is, but he and his shiny little buddy make for an awesome song.

Bellagio Mentos

This is beautiful usage of silly internet science.

Itchy And Scratchy

All the Itchy and Scratchy shorts that were ever shown on the Simpsons, for your viewing pleasure.

Magnetic Implants

I've seen some horribly silly body mods on the net over the years. This one is actually pretty interesting sounding - the link leads to an article by a guy who had tiny magnets implanted in his hands. These allow him to feel electromagnetic fields surrounding him.
That, and maybe give him cancer.

Edit - It didn't occur to me to mention, but if the sight of a bit of blood or tiny blue stitches bothers you, think twice before clicking.

Look Around You

I'm pretty sure I posted about this series before. It's now been made available via YouTube, which makes me happy becuase this show is pure British comedic genius.
