It's painful how sexy I look in this

Toyota pickup ftw!

In perhaps the most dramatic Top Gear episode I've witnessed to date, out friends set about to destroy a 20 year old Toyota pickup.
I love the choice of music on this one.

And thanks Lior - I watch google video through google translate... Silly but works.

Hai-Tank's finger

Hai-Tank is presumably the only man who can perform the single-fingered-finger-stand. With ease.

Fuzz's Z'Lab

Déjà Vu, by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young is now made available to you by Fuzz's site, "The Z'lab"*.
The album is considered a master piece. Hard for me to judge as far, but it does provide the listener with an exceptionally enjoyable experience.

From afar

It's nice and chilly here in Frankfurt. Snowed a bit last night (front and back of the house are visible above).
I've discovered something weird - Google video isn't available yet in some countries. Strange.
I don't have my full list of sources here - these are some things I ran across.

Gopher Broke, the latest short film from Blur Studios

A bit of a read, but "The Best Cyber Sex", featuring the notorious Bloodninja and others, is quite hilarious.

Creating your own alphabet is fun. You can download your created font and use it on your PC. Much respect to Executive Producer Golan Levin...

Despite what Yuval claims, Dr. Tran is the new hotness.

For the technology-hack-fans in the crowd - Full motion video on an 8088 (with video). Thanks Lior!

Confused about dealing with the bird flu? Burt explains.

Away

I'm leaving tonight to visit the parents. It's like -7 degrees there now, so chances are I'll be spending some time at home in front of the computer. Rumor has it they have internet there as well, so though spread a bit thinner, updates will come...

My parents live at Lindenbaum. You can look for it if you're so inclined...

Flying Dogs

We're not sure why these dogs were filmed being tossed into the air, played in slow-motion and combined with electronic music, but it's pretty cute awesome either way.

The song, if interested, is Poney (part 1) by Vitalic, on the CD "OK Cowboy."

Top Gear goes for world record

Top Gear goes for the Guiness World Record for the most flips with a car. Now, that record didn't exist before, but that presented no problem.
I love that they used the Back to the Future theme on that one.

Perspective

Always important.
This guy paints stuff that seems pretty random at a casual glance, but when viewed from the intended angle it all comes together.

National Pie Day

Rejoice, for it's today.

edit: I just noticed it's 'national'... Let's try and make it international eh?

Fruity Oaty Bar

As an experienced Joss Whedon fan I've followed his work from Buffy (bar the 7th season which was poo) through Angel, and lately on to Firefly.
Firefly has Whedon's charm and humor all over it which make it golden in my book.

After the series the movie Serenity was made. This above video is the commercial from it, the one that makes River go all Chuck Norris on her surroundings. It's a pretty good example of the humor that is embedded deep in all of Whedon's work.

Demotivators

I've been a fan of demotivational posters for a while now. This is the complete collection, I believe.

Knitting Art

I'm truly awed by this site. It has taken something as innocent as knitting, and deployed it without mercy to create images of violence and carnage. It's wonderful, in a Machiavellian sort of way.

Google Video Love

Terry Tate - The office linebacker.

Master Card "Priceless" series commercial.

Karate Matrix. From the same guys who did that ping pong matrix video.

Never scare a brother...

Osama on Family Guy.

Ferrofluid

Ferrofluid is a very interesting material originally developed by NASA it has now found itself been used for a whole range of devices including dampers for controlling and stabilizing large building that move around in the wind. Whats also amazing is that they have such lovely visual qualities when magnetized.

Check out the movie 'pulsate' at the bottom.

The OC Mixes

The OC is a show I never really got around to watching, but everyone always goes on about the awesome soundtrack it has.
Aura popularis is all about the awesome as you well know, so mixes 1,3 and 4 are now available to you off of megaupload's servers.

More!

The longest page on the net (currently at ~56 feet) is pretty cool.

It seems ZoneAlarm, loved by so many, is "sending encrypted data back to four different servers, despite disabling all of the suite'’s communications options."
[Or so is claimed here]

Levitating Lightbulb

It's a levitating-wireless lightbulb. Impress the hell out of your hillbilly friends.

Cool street art. Parking meters transformed into giant lolly pops for the enjoyment of all.

Links for the Shabat

That there is another good picture I received through File Swap.

A scared owl looks a lot like Calista Flockhart.

Funny German commercial - need glasses?

Toei Spiderman. Or Power Ranger Spiderman. I don't know what they did with you spidy...

We really need something like Craig's List here.

Old Vs. New

Here are two videos Yuval sent me featuring a katana and some firearms. Oh, and an old Japanese man with a mustache.
In the first video the sword is shot at with a regular hand gun. It holds up nicely.
Clearly displeased by the sword's high performance, the Americans shoot it again, this time with a machine gun. It manages six bullets before snapping (up there in the picture is that 7th deadly bullet).
I love that the Japanese master, true to his old culture, showed up in his ninja robes.

ted

Cutting edge as I am, I now bring you ted - torrent episode downloader. Ted goes online for you and pokes around looking for the newest episodes of the shows you like. It then downloads them (bittorrent style) to your computer.

I like to look up my own torrents, but for people who don't want to be bothered, or who lack the technical know-how, this seems like a great solution.

My Spoon is Too Big

The "ah l'amour" video reminded Yuval of this video, which I've never before seen. All I can say is - brace yourselves. It's trippy.

Medium quality.

Ah l'amour

DIY lockpicks

For those boring Saturdays, or as an activity to bring together and bond family members - lock picking is a nifty hobby.

Here is quite about everything on the how-to's of the actual pick. And of course, there is a forum to help you in times of need.

Top Gear

This time our friends at Top Gear go all out and armed with a Lotus Exige, they go up against an Apache helicopter.
At one point I hid beneath its soft American underbelly...

Bwahaha. Good fun.

edit: It seems this is not the first time they've collaborated with the military.

Wankr

It's gonna be awesome!

But seriously for a minute. What the hell is web 2.0? I see it all the time - is everything new and groovy interfacy automatically web 2.0? I guess I'll never know.

[Wankr]

Honda commercial

Honda has released a cool new commercial.
After loading click 'watch' on the bottom. The 'Rehearsal' bit is also interesting pretty boring.

Myth Busters

Myth Busters is actually a pretty cool show I never catch (I think it's aired on the National Geographic channel. I have no idea when).
Here they have videos of some of their experiments, or rather - "The lost experiments". I guess it means they're just extra silly.
[Link]

Super Train

It's actually the Superconduting Maglev Train in Japan, capable of traveling at over 500 km/h. Super Train is more to my liking though, and quite fitting.
Anyway, the video is over 6 minutes long, but it's quite eventless for the better part of it. To see the train (Super Train!) in action skip to 3:40.

File-swap

I didn't even think to try it, let alone post about it, but following a particularly slow Saturday I cracked like an old shoe and sent an innocent gif off to cyberspace. I received this image in return.
It's actually pretty good fun.

[File Swap] [This is a good place to start if you have no idea what that is]

Though not really being a muscle like many mothers claim, the mind does benefit from regular "workouts".
Try this 20 minute workout. I feel smarter already.

Fischerspooner

Fischerspooner is one of my favorite electro-music bands. Whether this video was actually made by them or not is unclear, but it is a pretty cool and visually pleasing peace of work.

Tripod

Tripod perform "Make you happy tonight" at a Comedy Festival (I have no idea why that is capitalized).
Despite not really being a gamer myself, I still found this song very amusing. And true - I've been addicted to Dune 2 in my day... I remember the mind frame.

Addition to blond joke

These are some comments from the forum that make it oh so much better:
I don't get the blond joke. Will someone explain this to me?

Where is the joke? Everyone keeps saying how funny it is on the pages I go to. I think their intarwebs are broken

How are you guys seeing the joke? I'm using firefox, does it not work in firefox? Are you guys using IE? I'm thinking it just won't display in firefox, can someone email it to me please?

all it takes is a little confidence....

The Sting. Where I first got my big-boy-crush on both Redford and Newman. Now available in Soundtracky goodness.

Mel Gibson

So apparently Gibson has a new movie coming out called Apocalypto. Not so very exciting so far.
I watched the trailer as bored as I was, and I still have no idea what that movie is about. I did however stumble across this site, where a funny/wtf frame has been uncovered:
Mel Gibson is subliminally forcing himself on you. It's kind of like Mel Gibson rape.

The trailer is here via Apple. This ^ little doozy can be found at 1:46 into the trailer. It's like the 7th frame.

Check out this song by Ugly Duckling - Smack. The music is medium plus, but the lyrics and video are win.

Jeep. It's bouncy and fun.

Ninjas Vs. Pirates

At last someone has taken this quite vacant niche and made a spot combining my two great cultural heroes.

Google Screen Saver

The google screen saver allows you to use pictures from your computer as a screen saver, but it's much more customizable than the built in XP one.
It does, however, come with the google logo in the corner. This guy worked around that little bit and now offers the same goodness sans the logo.

It has often been claimed that gold fish have a 3 second memory span. As an owner of a couple myself, I never bought into that. They're more intelligent than they let on.

Google Factory Tour

I believe this is hardly worth a post of its own, but sheer curiosity prompts me nonetheless.
Here you can find a 5 hours and 40 minutes long google video. About google.
It may very well contain hardcore porn from the beginning of the second minute, seeing as how I closed that tab rather quickly. Common... almost 6 hours.
Anyway, if someone does watch it and finds something interesting in there (porn included) feel free to use the comments.

* you may save it for future viewing using the spanking new script mentioned below! Hurray.

Download Google (and more!) videos II

A while ago I mentioned how you could save google videos.
The task just got a hell of lot easier thanks to a guy who's name I can't pronounce Joshua Kinberg who wrote two Greasemonkey scripts for Firefox users.
The scripts allow you to download videos from Google and YouTube with a single click on a handy link that appears at the top of your window.
Kudos Mr. Kinberg.
